1Best time to leave Jaipur for Khatu
Leave Jaipur by 5 or 6 am. Khatu Shyam Ji is about 80 km away, around 2 hours via Chomu and Ringus, so you reach the temple before the long morning queues build up. An early start matters most on Sundays, public holidays and Shukla Ekadashi, when the line can take hours. Darshan timings change with the season and on festival days, and the temple committee sometimes changes the queue system for big days, so check the latest notice the evening before.

2Distance between Khatu Shyam Ji and Salasar Balaji
Salasar Balaji is about 100 km from Khatu Shyam Ji by road, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours through Sikar. From Salasar, the drive back to Jaipur is about 170 km, or 3.5 to 4 hours. The whole day comes to around 350 to 400 km of driving, which is comfortable in one day if you keep to the plan below and don't add a third stop.

3A one-day plan that works
Leave Jaipur at 5:30 am and reach Khatu by about 7:30. Allow two to three hours for darshan and Shyam Kund. Have an early lunch and leave by 11:30 to reach Salasar around 2 pm. Spend two hours at Salasar Balaji, then start back by 4 or 5 pm to be in Jaipur by 9 pm. Tuesdays and Saturdays are the busiest days at Salasar, and Sundays and Ekadashi at Khatu, so on those days allow more time for each queue.

4Khatu Shyam and Salasar cab fare from Jaipur
Our Khatu Shyam Ji and Salasar Balaji day trip starts from ₹3,400 for a small car with driver, as an estimate. For a family of six in an Ertiga, expect about ₹4,500 to ₹5,200, and about ₹5,300 to ₹6,200 in an Innova Crysta. Fuel, tolls, parking and the driver's allowance are in the fare, and we agree the final number on WhatsApp before you book. Only going to Khatu? A one-way cab from Jaipur starts from ₹1,950.

5Tips for the day
Leave phones and bags in the car or at the stalls near the entrance, as queues move faster without them. Prasad is sold along the lanes to both temples. During the Phalgun mela at Khatu, roads near the temple close to cars and parking is a long way out, so start before dawn and tell your driver where you want to be dropped. For a group of nine or more, a tempo traveller is usually cheaper per person than two cars.
