How the day goes

1. Morning

   Off from your hotel

   Hotel pickup in Jaipur and drive west to Sambhar, about 2 hours away.

   • Sambhar salt worksThe salt pans and the old narrow-gauge salt railway at the edge of the lake, worked for centuries.
   • DevyaniA sacred tank and temples in Sambhar town, linked to Devyani, the daughter of the sage Shukracharya.

2. Afternoon

   Lunch and the next stops

   Lunch at a dhaba or resort near the lake (at your own cost).

   • Shakambhari Mata TempleAn old temple to the goddess Shakambhari in the hills at the edge of the lake.
   • Sambhar Lake shoreFlamingos on the shallow water in winter, and the sun going down over the white salt flats.

3. Night

   Back in Jaipur

   Drive back to Jaipur after sunset and drop-off at your hotel.
