About this package

Your driver picks you up in Jaipur for the 3 hour drive to Nawalgarh, where the Poddar and Morarka havelis are kept as museums and show the frescoes at their best. After lunch you drive on past Dundlod Fort to Mandawa and walk the lanes of painted havelis before sunset, with the night in Castle Mandawa or a haveli hotel. Next morning you visit Fatehpur, 20 km away, for the haveli restored by the French artist Nadine Le Prince, then drive back to Jaipur through Laxmangarh and Sikar.

The havelis were built by Marwari merchant families in the 18th and 19th centuries and painted inside and out with gods, trains, cars and European visitors. Many are still lived in or locked, so a local guide in Mandawa or Nawalgarh helps get you through the doors.
